Although we don't need excuses to visit Sitges, it is true that the Corpus Feast is an unbeatable oportunity to enjoy all the charms this little jewel wedged between the Garraf massif and beautiful crystalline beaches offers us. Above all, the Corpus Christi is the feast of flowers, used to decorate different places around the city and give them a beauty even bigger than they usually have. 
Despite the predictable arrival of tourist during the Feast and that finding accommodations without a previous reservation can be fairly complicated, although sometimes there are flats available in Sitges Group Apartments for Corpus Christi 2019.

Corpus Christi 2019 in Sitges. What is the feast of flowers?
Although the Corpus feast has a religious meaning, its link with flowers has persisted throughout the years. The first references date from 1323. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the number of flower carpets has been increasing. Nowadays exists a curious and healthy competition to decide which is the most beautiful and the best decorated carpet.  In 1942, the Sitges Town Hall decided to create a contest to reward the best carpets. The importance of the Corpus Christi in Sitges has as a result that the Feast was declared Fiesta of International Tourist Interest. And is not for less, takinf into account that more than 30000 dozen carnations and flowers are needed to make some of the carpets.

As we previously told you, the most important activities in the Corpus Christi 2019 will take place the days 21st, 22nd and 23rd of June with a programming where flowers are the main protagonists. We show you some of the most important activities during Corpus Christi 2019 in Sitges: 

Friday, 21st of June (provisional)
This day takes places the 29th Exposition of Bonsais and Suiseki (Auditorio del Edifici Miramar).
Saturday, 22nd of June (provisional)
During the Feast of Corpus Christi in Sitges takes place the decoration of different patios and spaces, as Pati Blau (C/ Ángel Vidal); the Racó de la Calma, an space decorated by the children's workshop of flowers and paintings (C/Fonollar); the patio of the Miramar Cultural Center, a collective artistic installation of the Sitges ReciclArt Festival; the Local Pool, with floating carpets; the Post de Sitges Aiguadolç or the Fundación Ave María, an space decorated by people with disabilities en C/ Artur Carbonell, 11.
Besides this, the Mercat Municipal de Sitges will distribute 6000 carnations between its clients from 8:30 to 14:00h or end of stock. At 16:30 will take place the “gegantera” floral sample (Floristería Mirabent, C/ Sant Francesc, 27), where we will see how the geganta's bouquet of flowers is made. 
After that, at 18:00h, we will enjoy , the departure of the three couples of gegants, who will start their route to the Retiro for the inauguration of the Feast of Corpus, with a parade that will have the following tour: Plaça Ajuntament, Major, Parellades, Sant Josep, Sant Gaudenci, Sant Francesc, Cap de la Vila, Àngel Vidal and Jardins del Retiro.
Sunday, 23rd of June 
The 23rd will take place the most outstanding acts during the Corpus Christi 2019. A few hours before sunrise, the streets of the city register an unusual activity,  more intense than they usually have, with all the population making the carpets of flowers to decorate the floor of the historic center, which will show its maximum splendor during Sunday.
The carpet of the Cap de la Vila will be made by the Colla Mitjana de Bastons of Sitges because of its 40th anniversary.
Also, during this day will take place different masses in the Parròquia de Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla (9:00h, 11:00h y 12:00h).
Besides that, during this day, in the Palau de Maricel we will have the opportunity of enjoying one of the most typical Catalan traditions during the Feast of Corpus Christy: l'Ou com Balla (Dancing Egg), an old tradition where and egg dances on the top of a fountain covered by flowers and fruits. To accomplish this, the egg would have been emptied.
